About Us

We are a friendly, experienced pet dog obedience training club based in Hintlesham, Suffolk. Although we do not train competetive obedience our training provides a good grounding should you wish to develop your skills in that direction.

Gipping and District Dog Training Club was started by Sylvia Taylor in 1973 and has operated continuously since then, though it has changed venue a few times moving to our present hall at Hintlesham from the small hall at Bramford in 2011.
Our Head Trainer - Jean Frost - has been with the Club since 1979 and a Trainer since 1985. The club is run entirely by volunteers and is non-profit.

We offer classes for both beginners and more experienced owners/dogs and accept all breeds and abilities & we are particularly sensitive to the needs of nervous dogs (or owners!)

Our trainers are highly experienced, with some training their own dogs at other professional training classes (they are too busy running classes at G&D to train their own dogs at the Club!) and attending training sessions with top UK obedience trainers as a way of ensuring the Club uses the most up-to-date methods. We have trainers who have been successful in obedience competitions, have provided the dogs who appeared in well known films or gained qualifications including Academy of Dog Training and G3 Dogs Intensive.

We also hold occasional events: Dog walks, Barbecue, Club Party etc. See our What's On page for details.
